Habitat for Humanity NWT launches Holiday Fundraising Campaign

Today, November 22 is National Housing Day and Habitat for Humanity Northwest Territories is excited to launch our Holiday Fundraising Campaign! Donations will help build more affordable homes for northern families.

On May 14, 2024, Habitat for Humanity NWT welcomed Brandee and family in Hay River, and then May 15, 2024, Candace, Christian and their family also became part of the Habitat for Humanity group of homeowners. Learn more about Brandee, Candace & Christian and their journey to become a homeowner!

Habitat for Humanity Canada awarded Dave Hurley, Habitat for Humanity NWT Board Chair and co-founder, the Terry Petkau Legacy Award at the Habitat National Conference and AGM in May, 2024. This award recognized Dave's visionary leadership, commitments to partnership and accomplishments in building more homes for families.

The award is the highest honour for members of the national organization. Congratulations Dave!

Habitat NWT welcomes four new homeowners

In Yellowknife, we welcomed new homeowners Kate, Susanna, and Amélie at a key ceremony on November 25, 2023. In Hay River welcome to Brandee! (Key ceremony to be held Spring 2024; delayed due to evacuations).

Enter the Meaning of Home Contest today

Parents and teachers! The Meaning of Home contest is a unique and meaningful way to get your children involved in creative writing and giving back in their community. Kids in grades 4, 5, and 6 can write an entry between 50 and 300 words about what home means to them in English or French. Entries can be submitted online, by mail, or by e-mail during the contest period. Grand prize winners receive a $30,000 grant for their local Habitat and runner-up winners receive $10,000 for their local Habitat, plus all winners receive a tablet for themselves and a pizza party for their class!

ReStore Now Closed for 2023 Season (July 10, 2023)

The Habitat ReStore is now closed for 2023. We are not accepting donations.

We don't know what the future of the ReStore looks like but we are looking forward to our continued focus on building more affordable housing for NWT families!

Century 21 Donates $21,000 to Habitat for Humanity NWT

Thanks so much to Century 21 Yellowknife for donating half the proceeds of their annual charity golf tournament to Habitat for Humanity NWT towards our affordable home builds in Yellowknife. A beautiful day and lots of fun had by all. Thanks to all the donors and sponsors for your support!
