Meet Rodney & Morine
Owning a Habitat for Humanity home has given us an amazing chance and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to provide our kids with the stability and bright future they deserve. Our family had always dreamed of owning a home someday, but the cost, especially in Yellowknife, was simply too high. It made saving for a down payment extremely difficult.
We tried applying for the NWT homeownership program funding, but unfortunately, we were denied.
Despite this setback, both of our parents encouraged us to apply to be the Habitat for Humanity homeownership program. Initially, we were discouraged because we had been denied twice before. However, we were finally qualified and received approval to be one of the families. It seems that third time is the charm!
We were overjoyed to be selected as one of the homeowners. We are truly grateful to have this beautiful home for our family. Getting chosen for the Habitat program was the best thing to happen to my family. Having a safe and permanent home has been our long-term goal and we’re thrilled to start this new chapter in our lives.
